Two people have been taken to hospital after an explosion at a terraced house in north-east London, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said. Footage on social media showed a huge blast at the house in Ilford - which has been converted into flats - with chunks of masonry being thrown into the street.

The first floor and loft conversion of a building in Ley Street were fully alight and two people were taken to hospital, the London Fire Brigade said.

The fire significantly damaged the roof of the building, as well as both of its floors and the loft conversion.
