Within months, the BJP appears to have turned things around in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh that collectively accounted for 59 of the 63 seats it dropped in the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP-led three-party alliance swept all the five regions, with the saffron party gaining 27 seats. On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi folded up with just 46 seats, as the Congress lost 29 seats to register its worst performance since 1962.

According to the Election Commission of India, Maharashtra saw an increased polling in 2024 from 2019. As per data, the final turnout in Maharashtra stood at 66.05 per cent.
