According to the University of Florida, that's the highest turnout rate in the country right now. Wisconsin, which is currently ranked second with a 76.37% turnout rate, is still working to certify its election results.

The state canvassing board met in St. Paul Thursday to certify the results of the 2024 election. Wisconsin will certify its results on Friday.

Early and unofficial results recorded by the University of Florida’s Election Lab and secretary of state’s offices show Minnesota could take the No. 1 spot for voter turnout once again. Minnesota has held the No. 1 spot for voter turnout in every presidential election since 2008, according to data from the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office.

Wisconsin could surpass the North Star State for the No. 1 spot when all votes are finalized and verified. Minnesota and neighboring Wisconsin are battling it out to see which state will claim the honor of having the highest voter turnout during the 2024 election.

(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota's voter turnout could be the highest in the U.S. again this year. Turnout in the state is currently estimated at just under 76 percent. Four other states currently report a turnout of over 72 percent, including Wisconsin and Michigan. Minnesota has had the highest voter turnout in each presidential election since 2008.
